Here are the dates for the XC races for this season. All races are scheduled to start at 10am.
Members of Driffield Striders are looking forward to entering the Wolds Way Relay Challenge. Follow our facebook page for regular updates and ‘live’ feeds throughout race day.
A Ten Leg Relay Challenge Run limited to 25 teams from local UKA Affiliated Athletic Clubs. This is not an official race but timing will be provided.
On behalf of Club’s a Team Captain must enter each team. After entry they will be contacted to supply team member’s details.
Entry fee is £50 per Team (£5 per runner), this is to cover costs and supply a memento, a donation of £1 per runner will also be made to National Trails who maintain the Yorkshire Wolds Way.
The route is following the official Yorkshire Wolds Way starting at Hessle Foreshore (7.30 am) and finishing at Filey Brigg. There will be no additional waymarking or marshals. It is therefore essential that teams recce the route/legs in advance.
Eight of the ten legs vary in distance from 7 to 9 miles the two remaining legs are 5 and 3 miles.

3.6K Fun Run
We still have plenty of places left in our 3.6K Fun Run. It’s open to everyone (minimum age 5 years) and only costs £3.50 to enter. The race will be manually timed and finishers will receive a medal and drawstring kit bag too. Head to the race number collection gazebo in the main car park to register.
500 Metre Fun Run
The children’s Fun Run is free to enter and is just for younger children (parents can run with them). The course is about 500m long. There is no timing or mementos provided and entries are only taken on the night.
Race Numbers/Timing Chips – These are given out on the night, so please arrive early enough to allow time for this. The numbers are available under a gazebo in the main car park. Note: You will be asked to sign your name when collecting your race numbers to allow us to inform you about the race on 2019 (your details will not be used for any other purpose).
Parking – There is free parking available at Sledmere House: Post Code YO25 3XG (please follow car parking marshals instructions). Please car share when possible as there is limited parking on site.
Toilets – There will be portaloo’s and a urinal available for runners as well as toilets in the cafe.
Cafe/Gift Shop – This will be open during the event and will be selling snacks, hot and cold drinks etc.
Dogs – Dogs are welcome at Sledmere House but must be kept on a lead at all times.
Sponsors – Our race sponsors Woolley & Parks and H & K Embroidery will be represented at the race and will be giving out information.
Awards – Every finisher in the 10K and 3.6K Fun Run will receive a bespoke medal and drawstring kit bag.
Prizes will be awarded on the night for the first 3 male and female finishers in the 10K.
Age category winners will receive a prize sent in the post after the event. Top two finishers in both men and women in age categories V40, V50, V60 & V70.
Note: Only one prize per person will be awarded (the larger amount)
A special prize for the club with most 10K entrants will also be awarded on the night. The top three clubs with the most entrants are as follows:
1st Pocklington Runners 39, 2nd Scarborough A.C. 36 & 3rd Bridlington Road Runners 33.
Massage – Barrie Kitching will be available to give a massage to runners, pre and post race. Barrie will not be charging for this service but asks that you give him a donation as he is raising funds for a local charity.

Sunday 17th September 2017 will see the inaugural running of the new “Malton and Norton Rotary 10k”.
This testing multi terrain event takes in both the old Malton Racecourse and the current Langton Gallops, as the hills rise up out of town towards the Yorkshire Wolds, before a fast downhill decent back to the finish line.

500m kids fun race 6.15 (approx.)
4k fun run 6.30 start
10k race 7.30 start
Welcome to the evening trail 10k in the beautiful grounds of Sledmere Estate located 5 miles from Driffield in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds.
The course is a small and large lap with ground conditions ranging from grass to hard chalk paths. There are no deep sections of mud however there are some very uneven sections and surfaces could be slippery in wet conditions. The start is in front of the house and is the same as the start for the fun run. For the 10k runner continue for a second lap, passing through the start and completing a larger lap, finishing with a fast flat and downhill chalk path before a final uphill 400m to the finish in front of the main hall.
Parking is directly off the B1253 and will be in the house car park or across the road in the gallery car park, follow signs. Please follow the directions of the car parking attendants. The start is a very short (2min) walk from the car parks.
Portable and permanent toilets will be available near the car parks.
Pre and Post Race Massage
Local sports physio, Barrie Kitching, will be offering pre and post race massages. Donations for his services are being donated to Hull and East Riding Institute for the Blind (HERIB).
The café will be serving take away drinks and sandwiches on the evening of the event and seating will be available on the terrace outside.
Please respect the grounds and take all your rubbish home with you. Dogs are allowed in the grounds but must be on a lead at all times. This is a private estate and the course is not on public footpaths or land so please do not run the course before or after the race.
